REPORT ON DAY-1 OF STITCHING TRAINING PROGRAMME conducted on 17.04.2026
Day-1 of the stitching training program, organized by the Alumni Association, was conducted successfully with active participation from students. The session focused on introducing the fundamentals of tailoring through both demonstration and practical activities. The program began with a brief orientation, where the trainer introduced the importance of stitching skills and explained how tailoring can serve as a valuable source of self-employment. Students were then introduced to basic tools such as measuring tape, scissors, needles, threads, and sewing machines. A live demonstration of the sewing machine was conducted, where students gathered around to observe its working and understand its parts and functions. The trainer guided them on proper handling techniques and safety measures while using the machine. Following this, students were engaged in practical learning activities. They were taught how to take body measurements and were introduced to basic pattern making using newspapers. Students actively participated in tracing and cutting simple patterns, which helped them understand the structure and design of garments. In the later part of the session, fabric cutting techniques were demonstrated. Students closely observed and practiced cutting cloth with accuracy under the guidance of the trainer. The hands-on activities created an interactive and engaging learning environment. The students showed great enthusiasm and interest throughout the session, actively participating in all activities and clarifying their doubts.
Outcome: Students gained practical exposure to sewing machine operation, basic measurement techniques, pattern making using paper, and fabric cutting methods. The session helped build confidence and interest among the participants.
