Programme Report
The Anti-Ragging and Anti-Sexual Harassment Cell of V.V. Sangha's Smt. ASM College for Women, Ballari, organized an awareness program on 6th August 2026 at Akkamahadevi Women's Hostel, Ballari, to create awareness among hostel students about ragging prevention, women's safety, and the importance of maintaining a respectful and secure campus environment. The program was attended by the Chairperson, Smt. Kathyayani M. Maridevaiah; IQAC Coordinator and member of the AR cell, Dr. Syeda K. Tanveer; ARC Convener, Dr. Bindu P.J.; Head of the Department of Chemistry; Members of the Anti-Ragging and Anti-Sexual Harassment Cell, Dr. Basavarajeshwari H., Assistant Professor of Botany & RDC Director. The program commenced with a warm welcome to all the dignitaries and students by the convener. The Chairperson Smt. Kathyayani M. Maridevaiah, in the presidential address, emphasized that educational institutions must provide a safe, inclusive, and fear-free environment for every student. The chairperson explained the ill effects of ragging and the legal consequences of engaging in ragging and encouraged students to uphold the values of mutual respect, discipline, and humanity. It also highlighted the significance of the Anti-Sexual Harassment Cell in ensuring the dignity, safety, and well-being of women students. It urged everyone to report any form of harassment without fear. The Convener, Dr. Bindu P. J., addressed the gathering by explaining the objectives and functions of the Anti-Ragging Cell and Anti-Sexual Harassment Cell. It created awareness about different forms of ragging and sexual harassment, the preventive measures adopted by the college, and the complaint redressal mechanism available to students. Students were informed about their rights and responsibilities and were encouraged to support one another in creating a positive and respectful campus culture. The IQAC Coordinator, Dr. Syeda K. Tanveer, appreciated the initiative and emphasized the importance of awareness programs in promoting ethical values, gender sensitivity, and student welfare. The coordinator encouraged students to actively participate in maintaining a safe and harmonious educational environment. The program concluded with an interactive session in which students clarified their doubts regarding anti-ragging regulations and the functioning of the Anti-Sexual Harassment Cell. The awareness program was well received by the hostel warden Smt. Latha, staff, and students; it successfully conveyed the message of "Zero Tolerance towards Ragging and Sexual Harassment." The program ended with a vote of thanks by Dr. Basavrajeshshwari.H., Assistant Professor of Botany.

On 06/08/2026, the Students Grievance and Redressal Cell organized an awareness program at our college hostel (Akkamahadevi Women's Hostel) to give awareness about "Students Grievance and Redressal" and also discussed students' academic problems. Student grievance redressal is a formal system used by colleges to receive, process, and solve student complaints. It gives learners a safe way to share problems and find fair solutions. This event was preceded by the chairperson of our college governing council, Smt. Kathyayani M. Maridevaiah. IQAC Coordinator Dr.Syeda K. Tanveer, HoD of the Chemistry department Dr. Bindu P.J., and Hostel Warden Smt. Latha witnessed the event. Dr. Basavarajeshwari H., student welfare officer and convener of the redressal cell, welcomed the gathering and explained the process of grievance and redressal, encouraging students to express their grievances/problems freely and frankly without fear of being victimized. This student grievance redressal awareness program reinforces the institution's commitment to fairness, open communication, and student safety. It summarizes key takeaways, empowers students to voice concerns without fear, and highlights the availability of support systems. The presidential remark was delivered by the Chairperson of the College Governing Council, Smt. Kathyayani M. Maridevaiah, HoD of the Chemistry department, Bindu P.J., proposed a vote of thanks. Around 60 hostel students participated in the awareness program.
