Chemistry Department ISR activity - An awareness Programme conducted at Korlagundi Village on 17.04.2026
REPORT ON AWARENESS PROGRAMME
The Department of Chemistry organized an awareness programme at Koralagunda Village with the active participation of chemistry students named Ms. Laxmipriya, Ms. B. Lakshmi, Ms. Harshitha, Ms. Deepthi, Ms.Laxmi Yadav, and Ms. Bhavana. The programme aimed to educate the local community on the importance of food hygiene and plastic awareness. The programme was conducted as part of the department’s outreach initiative to promote health, environmental responsibility, and sustainable living practices among rural communities. The students actively engaged with villagers and explained the importance of maintaining proper hygiene in food preparation, storage, and consumption to prevent various health issues and diseases. As part of the food hygiene awareness, students demonstrated simple practices such as washing hands before handling food, keeping utensils clean, using safe drinking water, and avoiding consumption of contaminated food. They also emphasized the importance of cleanliness in and around kitchens. In the session on plastic awareness, students highlighted the harmful effects of plastic on the environment, animals, and human health. They encouraged villagers to reduce the use of single-use plastics and adopt eco-friendly alternatives such as cloth bags and biodegradable materials. The team also explained proper waste disposal methods and the importance of recycling. The villagers responded positively and showed keen interest in adopting the suggested practices. The programme helped in creating awareness and fostering a sense of responsibility towards personal health and environmental conservation. The programme concluded successfully with active participation from both students and villagers. It was an enriching experience for the students as well, enhancing their communication skills and social responsibility. The department had also organised an awareness rally in the village. The students shouted slogans on plastic awareness and nutrition. The programme was headed by the head of the department of chemistry, Dr. Bindu P. J. Faculty members Smt. Rohinaz and Smt. Lakshmi and students of chemistry witnessed the program.
