ACTIVITY REPORT
1. Title of the Programme: Special Lecture on “Advanced Cell and Molecular Techniques”
2. Date, Time & Venue: 25th April 2026 (Saturday), 11:00 AM, Library Seminar Hall.
The program was presided by Smt. Kathyayini M Maridevaiah (Chairperson), Smt.A.M.C for women & Principal Dr. Dupam Satheesh.
3. Chief Guest & Resource Person:
Dr. B Uma Reddy
Professor & Chairperson, Department of Studies in Botany
Vijayanagara Sri Krishnadevaraya University, Ballari
4. Objectives:
- To expose students to advanced molecular biology techniques and their applications
- To bridge theoretical knowledge with current research methodologies
- To inspire students to pursue higher studies and research in life sciences
5. Brief Report of the Programme:
The Department of Zoology, in association with IQAC, organized a Special Lecture on “Advanced Cell and Molecular Techniques”. The programme commenced with a symbolic inauguration by watering a plant by the dignitaries. Dr. B Uma Reddy delivered an insightful lecture covering PCR, DNA sequencing, CRISPR-Cas9, blotting techniques, cell culture, and their applications in biotechnology and medical diagnostics. The session was interactive, with students actively engaging in the Q&A session.
6. Participants: 85 students from B.Sc (Zoology) and faculty members attended the programme.
7. Programme Outcome:
- Students gained in-depth understanding of advanced molecular tools used in research
- Increased awareness of career opportunities in biotechnology and genetics
- Recommendation for conducting hands-on workshops on PCR and gel electrophoresis
Dr. Syeda K Tanveer– IQAC Coordinator & Head, Dept. of Zoology presented brief profile of today's resource person-.Ms. K Rakshitha – Lecturer, Dept. of Zoology welcomed the guest & gathering. Ms.Amrutha Yadav ( BSc IV sem) innvocated the program by prayer song. Ms.Lakshmi lalasa ( B.Sc final year) proposed vote of thanks. Program was compaired by Ms.Malleshwari( B.Sc final year).
Simultaneously Addon Course ( 2025-26) on the topic " Vermiculture & Vermicomposting ", certificate distribution was also carried out. 30 students from Final year has enrolled the same received the certificates.
